Through the international registration of a design, it is possible to obtain, with a single application filed to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), based in Geneva (Switzerland), the protection in all the Member Countries of the Hague Agreement concerning the International Registration of Industrial Designs.
Process of registration
The application for registration of an international design can be filed directly to WIPO. Subsequently, the registration is carried out by the Patent Offices of each Member Country, in accordance to its national regulations. For the registration of an international design is not necessary to initially proceed with the filing of a national design.
Benefits
The registration of an international design, compared to proceeding with distinct registrations in different countries, represents a significant simplification, with a consequent reduction of costs.
