The Economical Has Rewarded Most Innovative Small Firms

In 2003-2013 period, the number of patents and trademarks filed per 100,000 inhabitants in Lazio, Lombardy e Piedmont has respectively decreased of -40% for the formers and -35% for the latter. This short account implies that investments in innovation are pushed by small and medium-sized enterprises, demonstrating to be more competitive than big companies, which are all along based in Piedmont and Lombardy. Anyway, Milan’s region continues to be the most innovative one, in both relative and absolute terms.
