The Patent, Industrial Designs and Trademarks Act enacted in 2002 has come into effect as of April 10th, 2004. Main changes include: – Service marks are provided for – The 8th edition of the Nice classification has been adapted and introduced – The term is now successive ten year periods, not 7 and 14 year terms. – Well known marks in Mauritius are recognized and may be enforced even if not registered.
