Bahrain, International Agreements

The Industrial Property Office of Bahrain has recently announced that the Council of Ministers had approved the joining of Bahrain to several international IP agreements including: the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services, Vienna Agreement Establishing an International Classification of Figurative Elements of Marks, PCT, Trademark Law Treaty, Madrid Protocol Concerning the International Registration of Marks, Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the purpose of Patent Procedure, WIPO Copyright Treaty, WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty and Rome Convention for the Protection of Performers, Producers and Broadcasting Organizations. The Bahrain Government is expected to issue the necessary and related legislation soon, confirming the joining to the agreements and deposit the relevant instruments with WIPO.
