Upov

The European Community has become the first intergovernmental organization to join UPOV (International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants) with the deposition of its instrument of accession on June 29, 2005. This is expected to help strengthen the system of plant variety protection in the world and broaden international cooperation. The Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO) administers plant variety rights in the EC in Angers, France and provides for one application, one examination and one title of protection enforceable in all EC countries.
