Internet Copyright Protection

China’s National Copyright Administration (NCA) and the Ministry of Information Industry (MII) have announced the implementation of the “Administrative Measures on Internet Copyright Protection” by May 30. The new regulations were introduced because China’s copyright laws had not defined clearly the responsibilities to the ISP in copyright piracies. The measure clarifies that websites providing pirated material will bear the responsibilities whereas those that passively spread such material will be exempt from punishment.
