Morocco, New Ip Law No. 17-97

As of December 18, 2004, the new IP law No. 17-97 will be in force. The following changes, among others, will apply: – The protection of indications of origin and appellations of origin – The regulation of rights and obligations of employer and employee in the case of invention by the employee. – The regulation of titles of industrial co-ownership – All patents, trademarks, design or model registrations which were registered or filed prior to December 18th, 2004 in either Morocco (Casablanca) or Tangier zones will automatically extend their protection to the other zone.
