Lybia, New Ministerial Decree

The Minister of Trade and Commerce has issued a new Ministerial Decree No. 86 dated June 5th, 2004, the main aspects being: 1. Adoption of the Nice classification (8th edition) from Class 35-45. It follows that local classifications from 101 to 112 are no longer valid. Class 33 of alcohol products is not registrable; 2. Applications filed before the closing of the Trademark Office and matured to registration may be renewed upon production of the relevant documentation; 3. Files of pending applications may be reconstituted upon production of the relevant documentation; 4. All service mark applications filed but not published yet will be revised according to the International classifications 35 to 45.
