European Patent & Trademark Attorney Partner Main activities: Mr. Botti focuses primarily on offering assistance to Directors of important industrial groups in defining the strategies for the protection of the innovations of their Companies. His background also includes preparing and prosecuting Italian, European and US patent applications; performing prior art searches in order to provide validity opinions on patents or patent applications; infringement opinions; the preparation of license contracts. In the last year he has matured a special skill in providing technical assistance to lawyers in patent litigations. He has taken care of dozen of litigations on behalf of Italian and foreign clients, in Italy but also in Germany. He has been working as private counsel but also as Technical Counsel appointed by the Court of Milan. In the largest part of the cases he has offered assistance to US, German and Japanese Plaintiff clients involved in patent litigation in Italy. Education: He graduated from the Politecnic School of Milan in 1984 with a degree in Electronic Engineering. He is registered in the Engineers’ Professional Bar in the County of Varese. He is a qualified European Patent Attorney as well as Community Patent Attorney for Community Trademarks and Designs. Of course, he is also a qualified Italian IP Agent. He has obtained the “Patent Litigation in Europe” diploma, at the University of Strasbourg (2006), becoming also a tutor of that course for the subsequent three years. He is also qualified to practice before the Patent and Trademark Office of San Marino. Professional experience: He worked in the patent firm Jacobacci & Perani of Milan from 1985 to 1991. Before establishing Botti & Ferrari, from February 1991 to February 1999 he was co-founder and partner of the patent firm Porta, Checcacci & Botti of Milan. Languages: English, French.
